今日のSF『フレームシフト』ロバート・J・ソウヤーである！
こっちのほうが先に読んだ。こっちは良い。いつもこうだと良いのだが。あいかわらずプロットがうまい。４本くらいの筋が進行していてどっちに進むのかわからなかった。
ナチスの生き残りではないかと疑われていた悪役の上司の科学者が、途中で単なる科学者バカで無実とわかるのだが、ポール・ホーガンならそこで手綱を緩めてゴジラ効果（すごい悪役だった者が途中で良い人に変わったら必要以上に良い人に見えて感動する効果）を出すと思ったら、そのまま断罪して終わった。
このへんがロバート・J・ソウヤーの器が小さいところというか、物の見方がかたくなで自由さがないところで『リベラルな保守性』の部分なのだが、プロットがずばぬけてうまい人なので、ここで緩めてはダメだ、と判断したのかも知れない、でも、性格の問題だと思うな。
悪口を書いたが小説はすばらしくおもしろい。

Pierre Tardivel is a scientist working on the Human Genome Project with the Nobel Prize winner Dr. Burian Klimus. The two lines of investigation begin to converge in a sinister manner, while they worry about the possibility of bearing the child of an evil, sadistic killer...
